Error on installing update (KB970710)

    Error on installing update (KB970710)

    I am having trouble installing update (KB970710) after trying to install this error comes up...error code 80070020.

    I have tried the methods that are recommended on the microsoft site but none of the methods work... Does anyone else have any idea what i can do?

    It should work. It is probably due to some startup program. Maybe your anti virus. Safe mode will take care of problems like that.

    ok im in safe mode right now and when i click on windows update it wont open..

    What now?

    In regular mode go back, with system restore, to before you began to try the install. Then try in safe mode again.

    If you are using dial up internet and tried in safe mode that did not work, try clean boot
    How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    The usual cause of that error is interference by another program.

    Boot the computer several times before trying, again.
    If you do not use dial up, boot several times and try safe mode,again.

    How do I reset Windows Update components?
