Windows Updates Do Not Install

Idea please to fix & allow FAILED WINDOWS UPDATES to install ?

What error code did you get please.

When checking to see if they have installed .. It indicates "FAILED "
Only 1 of 4 have installed !

That is a code for a corrupt file try a sfc scan first and if that fails I will tell you which file to delete and try again.
System file checker.
Go to start search type cmd hold shift and ctrl and press enter.
That should open cmd as an administrator.
In the box that opens type sfc /scannow
Note the space before/
If errors are found run it up to 3 times and reboot.

This came from another site, set a restore point before you try.

In fact deleting "cd2b15b1a90e884578188440a1660b12" directory in c\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\ will fix the problem for SP2 every time as this directory refers to SP2. Well, at least in Home premium, as to the other versions of vista I am not so sure.

Did sfc scan you suggested, and looks like 2 of 3 were downloaded this time.
Should the complete file folder for "cd2b15b1a90e884578188440a1660b12"
be deleted?

OK lets go a bit careful here as that information came from another site.
Do you know how to set a restore point?
Did the last sfc scan give you a message at the end?

- Yes .... I have restored several times with no success !
- sfc scan had no message
- New Zealand is on my bucket list!

I would run the sfc scan again then make a restore point before deleting the file mentioned in the post. If it fails to work or does something we don't want we have the restore point to return to.

Yes that's normal and after it will tell you if errors were found and if it was able to repair them,or was unable to.
if it was unable to repair them run it again, up to 3 times, no point in running it more than that

OK, we need you to upload the log to us.
Go to Computer C:Windows,logs,cbs.
Right click and send to compressed (zip)folder and save it to your desktop
On your next post click on the paperclip and browse to the desktop saved file.
Click upload and wait for it to finish uploading then close the window.
I will ask someone to look at it for you.
