System Crashing While Running...

I have two laptops (Dell Inspiron & HP Pavilion) both of which are experiencing the exact same behavior, both of which are running Windows Vista 32bit OS with SP2.

After opening a Citrix Access Gateway (CAG Client Version 4630800) session and then launching Remote Desktop Connection to connect to my machine at work (Windows 7 OS) my home system (Windows Vista 32bit SP2) will crash after approximately 10 minutes.

The error message is the standard blue screen with the following 'Technical Information':

Stop: 0x0000007F (0x00000008, 0x803D3130, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

From my own research I've come across Microsoft KB Article KB972907, a Hotfix which sounds very similar to the issues I'm experiencing but it applies only to x64 & x86 platforms.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response. Attached you will find both the BSOD dump and PerfMon report.

Also,

Is Vista . . . - x86 (32-bit) or x64? 32 bit - the original installed OS on the system? original is Vista - an OEM or full retail version? retail - OEM = came pre-installed on system? pre-installed - Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer. purchased direct from dell - What is the age of system (hardware)? ~ 3yrs.
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) ~ 3yrs and no, never re-installed OS.

Thanks for the assistance!

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP_M (1000007f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
        use .trap on that value
Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.

The reports that you have submitted reveal clues to the cause of your problem. They do not give a definitive answer. The more reports that we receive the more clues are made available improving our chances of finding a solution to your problem. You may have to experience several more BSODs until the final answer is discovered.

If overclocking restore normal settings

SFC /scannow
System Files - SFC Command

Download memtest86 and test RAM
www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html
Run for 8 passes
If passes try a good stick in each slot for 3 passes
If fails do the same for 8 passes.

Scan with your Anti Virus

Update outdated listed drivers. If I have inadvertently listed any Microsoft Drivers, they can be ignored. If the list is extensive I have included the driver verifier test so that you may determine which drivers are in need of immediate attention.
Asacpi.sys is a driver from the Austek Computer Corp. Your driver is very old and is known to cause BSOD's in current Windows versions; it must be updated

Uninstall your current Anti Virus and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Apply Hot Fix
Stop error message when you run an application that transfers data by using the UDP protocol in Windows Server 2008 R2 or in Windows 7: "STOP 0x0000007F"

richc46 -

thanks again for the quick response. i am progressing through the suggested approaches. however, a couple of questions:

1. SFC went through a verification process, CMD prompt closed with no further activity. i can only assume that the SFC results were 'normal'. is this a safe assumption?
2. memtest86 - my apologies, can you clarify what you mean by 'try good stick in each slot'? also, on the memtest/86 download page the auto-installer doesn't appear to support all MS OS's with the exception of Vista. is the 9x/2k/xp/7 compatible also with the Vista OS?
3. scanned system with Windows Defender all is running 'normal'. Regarding the Ascapi.sys driver, i looked in C:\Windows\System32\drivers and do not see this listed. what am i missing?
4. the recommended hotfix doesnt apply to the Vista OS, is there a compatible hotfix for Vista?

thanks again richc46 for all the help.

My Computer

Start with a system restore point, first
"0x0000007F" Stop error occurs when the connection to some shared files is lost on a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008

You did not do the SFC properly. YOu must run as administrator. When you see the cmd pop up (at search), right click

First take the memory test. If you pass take any stick and test it in the MotherBoard slot. (for 3 passes). If you fail, take a good stick and test each slot 6 passes.

Scan with your Antivirus. Download and test with Malwarebytes, not Defender.
Apologies the Asacapi is part of my pro forma copy and paste. Does not apply to you. Me BAD.
