Vista Installation Problem. Please Help!

Well I finally got my computer working and I'm trying to install Vista HP 64bit OEM but when I get to the drivers it can't find my Hard Drive. I'm pretty sure my HDD is connected right. I have 4gb of Ram. My HDD is shown in the BiOS but not in vista. I have no other OS installed on it. The MB I'm using is a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P. Can anyone help me on this? Maybe explain exactly where the HDD should go and what the settings for it should be in the BiOS and any other information that would help me greatly.

Here are my specs:
Case: NZXT Apollo with 1 Extra 120MM Fan (Extra Fan greatly recommended)
PSU: Corsair VX 550W
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz
Memory: G.Skill 4GB
Video Card: HIS Radeon HD 4850 512mb IceQ4 Turbo
Drivers: WD Caviar Black 640GB 7200RPM (Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives)
Keyboard/Mouse: Normal Standard ones at the moment
Display: Hanns-G 19" Widescreen

I gave the link of the HDD because it seems to be a HDD issue. I tried to upgrade the drivers via. an USB Flash and that didn't work. I tried the MB disc and that didn't work. Is everything connected right? I'm pretty sure it is.

If anyone can help me please.

What position does the BIOS say the hard drive is in?

You need to format the hard drive first. Assuming you haven't installed Vista yet, put the DVD in and reboot. Vista should detect your hard drive as unallocated space if its already detected in the BIOS. Then select format and follow the instructions.

It says it's in IDE Channel 0 Master.

Thats the thing, Vista DOES NOT detect any HDD.

Also I'm not running RAID.

Just reread your initial post. Sometimes OEM discs don't want to install on
new builds.

Hi,

EDIT ; If Vista can see it as unallocated, click Drive Options Advanced, click Create, Choose a size for the partition - 20gb is enough to install ( you can always extend it later). Then click Format.

Make sure that newly created and formatted partition is highlighted - then click Next.

Otherwise:

Boot the Vista dvd to system recovery options .

Boot dvd , windows loads files, select language and keyboard, On the Install Now creen , click Repair my computer at the bottom .

IF it can't find HD click Next, click command prompt.

Type :

DISKPART {enter}

SEL DISK 0 {enter}

DETAIL DISK {enter}

It should show as Raw. If so , type

CRE PAR PRI {enter}

FOR FS=NTFS QUICK {enter}

Could take a long time if it a large drive.

To exit , type EXI {enter}

There's a separate d/l for that :

Download GParted from SourceForge.net

First, download GParted live zip file.

After the zip file is downloaded, you can make it bootable on a MS Windows computer by the following steps (This method only works for the file system in USB flash drive is FAT format.

Extract files and make USB flash drive bootable under MS windows:

(Use GUI program on MS windows):
    • Download Live USB Helper to help you to create this Live USB flash drive. Just install the program on MS windows, then you can follow the GUI to create the live. You need the GParted live zip file for this method. PS. To run Live USB helper program on MS windows, you need a dll file "vb6stkit.dll". If Live USB helper complains about no vb6stkit.dll was found, you can download it on http://www.dll-files.com and read the FAQ to install it.
