Solved Recycle Bin problem

I am running Windows Vista Home and every time I attempt to delete
things or empty my recycle bin, windows wont let me - it is stuck frozen on the calculating portion of the deletion process or it says 0 seconds and 0 bytes left and it will remain on the screen until I end it with windows task manager.
I have tried virus scanning, and clearing my system with ccleaner. And its still a problem - can anyone help me? When I upload my photos and click on ''delete pictures after upload is complete'' it crashes and does the same thing then too. Please help me x

How much data is in the recycle bin?

Hello Sarah, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You might see if resetting the Recycle Bin may be able to help by deleting it for each hard drive letter that you have.

Hi Guys, my recycle bin is empty - so if i delete it - how do i re-install it? sorry im not that advanced with computers - I kinda know stuff but not that much - thankyou for the reply. x

No problem Sarah. The $Recycle.bin folder will automatically recreate itself after restarting the computer. Clicking on the link in my post above will give you step by step help on how to do this.

Hi guys, I am having the same problem but in my case even using the cmd prompt, the system will say

H:\$Recycle.bin\S-1-5-~1\$RPZY4DR\XILISO~1\VIDEOC - Access is denied.
H:\$Recycle.bin\S-1-5-~1\$RPZY4DR\XILISO~1 - Access is denied.


I am using Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit

Double check to make sure that you used a elevated command prompt instead. Right cick on command prompt shortcut, and click on "Run as administrator".

Opps, sorry to tell you I already run the cmd prompt as administrator but the problem still exist. FYI, I have to ask a permission from 'S-1-5-21-57989841-2139871995-682003330-1003' to delete the file. Is my computer infected by some kind of virus or it is just a bug?

No, you are not infected. Those type of files in the Recycle Bin in the $Recycle.bin folder are normal and should not be deleted unless you are resetting the Recycle Bin as above. They are protected OS system folders.
