Solved Making a video dvd in Vista

I just burned a .wmv in DVD-Maker and, indeed, it does create a Video_TS. As a result, it should play in any standalone player. I had told it to create a menu but it doesn't show one when I ask to see the Title Menu.

Just save it to file. I believe there are free menu maker programs that will load a VIDEO_TS and add a menu. They might be sort of generic though.

I use Nero 2015 Platinum. I don't need DVD-Maker. I did the burn just to help out the author of this thread.

Cool. But it's possible some of those reading your post may wonder if there's a freeware that may add a menu. I used Nero 6 Ultimate at one time. It did some things well. Uninstalling itself not being one of them though.

To uninstall Nero v6, you need to use the Nero General Clean Tool since Nero v9 and earlier didn't use a Windows installer.

I understand what you're saying. I think that creating the project in Movie Maker and saving to file followed by burning it in DVD Maker, could possibly solve the menu problem. Normally, saving a project to a video format doesn't include the menus so I'd have to test that out to. Maybe when I get time.

It had an uninstall. It just didn't work. Like Norton you needed to use a removal tool. The main thing I thought was nice about V6 was the Super VCD authoring had an intuitive menu wizard. But nobody does SVCD anymore. For that matter I don't do much of anything video anymore. Things change fast so I should stop chiming in on video advice.

To recapitulate, the OP didn't have Windows DVD Maker because he's running Home Basic, but there are plenty of other burners out there. As the name implies, DVD Maker makes Video DVDs, and it has menu options in order to add menus to your DVD. Did you look at the "Options" link at lower right before concluding that it doesn't work?
