Why multiple monitors?

I used to run 2 monitors 2 x 17inch and was great for duel boxing games but then come the major upgrade and only have 1 x 28inch to replace the 17's. The big monitor is fantastic and wish i could have 2 but cant on SLI setup so thats why i have a big monitor and damn happy with it.

hi, as an example, you can just try out dual-monitor with fullscreen apps... you can do things normally impossible if there's only one monitor.

Its al about screen real estate. I do allot of 3D Graphics and its easier to have on multiple monitors (in my case 3) than to have to close down and reopen pages

Just got my second monitor and I do notice the difference straight away.
I am using a network monitor on the second showing all that is going on while I type this. Pics will be uploaded to Show us your rig in a bit.:D

As somebody that has a 4 monitor setup, I can tell you it massively increases productivity if you are using more than one window/app for a period of time.

I find it an invaluable tool when writing code or designing graphics, if you do have the resources to try it out, I would recommend doing so as it makes working on the PC so much easier.

no, most modern graphics cards come with dual vga/dvi ports so you have one cable per monitor.

ah right, i already have dual dvi moniters, but on my graphics card there is also a s-video output can i use this for triple moniters or can you not do that? lol cheers

Unfortunately, no. You can use any combination of the three but not all three at once; can have something plugged into all three, but would have to switch between the two you wanted to use in the cards control settings. reason being is that there is only two (DAC's - Digital-to-analog converter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) on the card.

It is less than half the price and it can be used as a free version or a registered version - *and* you can sign up for a temporary registration ID via email for 30 days to see what it is like.

You mean you have to pay for ultramon:huh:. Guess I have it as a trial. The only real thing I was using it for was the wallpaper extras but I know how to get around that now. Resizing an image then using tile so the image stretches over both monitors.
