I have had this problem for a long time, but i'm beginning to get really sick and tired of it.
First and foremost, let me quickly explain the issue:
- Autorun NEVER works
- When i insert a disc or USB device, nothing happens
- When i go to My Computer and double click on the drive, Vista asks me if i want to format the CD/DVD
- Vista thinks that every CD/DVD i insert is blank... This includes mounting an ISO via Daemon tools
Here's what Vista shows when i insert Fallout 3:
The only way i can access a CD that won't open is by going into command prompt, changing drive letters, then opening it from within there. Example:
D:
dir
setup.exe (or what ever file i want)
If i restart my computer with the CD still inserted, when i log in, and go to My Computer, the CD will actually load just fine. The icon changes to the correct image (such as if i insert a game CD), and everything looks good. Once i remove, then insert the CD, same problem occurs.
I have tried:
- Going into registry and enabling autoplay by adding a "1" to the particular registry value
- Flashing my DVD drives
- Re-install windows
- Uninstall DVD drive via device manager
- Going into control panel and editing autoplay settings
So far nothing has worked. Can anyone offer any advice, please!? I'm starting to pull my hair out.
