still think its rubbish that you need you add an extra plug in order for the catalyst control center to unlock the overclocking options , it would appear that you can overide it with riva tuner but you need the extra connectors for a stable overclock????!!!! seems like an old un needed extra left over from the 2 series cards , ATI really are a bit rubbish


After reading up about it a little it seems you do indeed NEED to connect both the 6 and 8 pin connectors with the modern cards (it was optional with the older models) im gonna edit my original advice..................so i dont look too stupid

well mine is just a single six so my card is perfect haha

Yeah, plug both the pins in, you dont want the voltage to vary too much, if it did you'd find that your card would fry and BSOD faster than an egg in a frying pan. It pays to be careful when it comes to voltages.
Most people have tons of spare cables coming out of their PSU (if they decided to build their rig themselves-they dont have to be cheap) why not utilize them all
