I have Vista Ultimate x64 SP1, Nvidia 8800 card with the latest WHQL driver, Gigabyte motherboard and E8400 core2 Intel CPU.
Everything is using the latest drivers etc, and Ive installed the latest patch for the game also.
Ive tried out all possible compatibility modes + run the game as administrator...nothing has helped..
The game must run perfectly on x64 Vista, so I dont know that what the hell is wrong...Someone please help..

Try to run it as administrator (Right-Click shortcut -> Run as Administrator).
Otherwise you could also try to set compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2.

It doesn't work with more people though. I don't think it's 64-bit compatible.

Ive tried those already...its weird, usually I got the first error message after like 1-2 hours..and its a turn based strategy game, and when I try to reload the game and continue since the last crash, it will crash again with this same error message.
Civ4: BtS should work on 64 bit VISTA, it even has games for windows logo..

Are you sure all your drivers are up to date?
Did you install all updates, and did you update DirectX too?
Does it work in windowed mode?

Yes I have the latest drivers for everything...I have Directx 9+10 installed...and yes it works in windowed mode but it will crash in windowed mode also.

I will try out something, I will report that it worked or not.

My Computer

Okay, here I am to report!
I was searching on the net for hours, and finally managed to figure out what to do...some people had problems like these in other games with 64bit Vista. It can be solved by creating a new admin account and install the game from there. Very weird, but worked...:sarc:
