Solved Adobe flash player not installing

I use Firefox and out of the blue, noticed that when I tried to play a YouTube video, I got a blank screen. I have tried using the Adobe uninstaller and then reinstalling the program several times. When I go into Adobe help and it does the test to see if you have Flash Player, I get a blank screen - even after I've installed it. In my Uninstall Programs window, it is listed but does not have a size. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this? Thanks!

Hello gooddayz and welcome to the forums

Let's start off by reinstalling Flash. I want you to download and install RevoUninstaller and use this to remove Flash:

Revo Uninstaller Pro - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs easily, Forced Uninstall

Do a full scan for leftovers in Revo and remove everything it finds Then reboot and try installing Flash from the Adobe website.

Thank you, Tom. I had already gone the Revo route but tried it again -- actually did the slowest, advanced uninstall mode! Did the install process of Flash from the Adobe site.... still did not work. I went into the Adobe Help - Flash Player help. At the very beginning, it says "The Flash Player version and OS of your computer are displayed in the box below:" and no "box below" ever shows up... just blank space. :eek:When I look in the Control Panel - Uninstall window... Flash is listed but has no size!! How about that??!!! What's next? I read somewhere that document & settings files hang out and keep Flash from completely installing. I've tried to look for those but am not savvy enough to know what I am looking at. I also thought Revo would take out any of that stuff.:eek:

That's a shame, looks like we'll have to try harder then! It's getting late here, so I'll do some more research and get back to you tomorrow. Just to warn you, I'm right in the middle of my a-level exams at the moment, so I won't be able to reply very quickly - I aim to reply at least once a day though.

Regarding the issue about no size appearing in your list of installed programs, I wouldn't worry about that. About 40% of my programs have no size showing in that list. But funnily enough, my Flash does have a size. I'll look into this as well.

No worries It's nice to get away from revision now and then.

Have you tried reinstalling FireFox? That would be the next thing to try.

I did restart in safe mode but did not know where to go from there. I did go into YouTube to see if I could view the video in safe mode... well, could not.
If I reinstall Firefox will I lose all my bookmarks?
I found a recommendation to go to "Troubleshooting Information" under "Help". It was also recommended that it might be good to "reset Firefox". I guess when that is done, all extensions are lost. Is that something I should do? What does that mean to "lose all the extensions"? Again, thank you!

As for a FF reinstall you can easily export your bookmarks first. Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks | How to | Firefox Help I don't know what a reset would do.

I just reinstalled Firefox. It is doing the same thing. When I go to YouTube, it tells me to install the pluggin (which is Adobe Flash). When I try to install from that message, download fails & has a link where I can install it manually so I download it (from the Adobe site).... save it on my desktop...then install. Works through 50% of the installation then just zips through remaining 50%. It appears Adobe Flash is not installed.

I did try the firefox safe mode....

Ok... after spending waaaayyyyyy too much time on this and doing lots of things I didn't need to do... In searching here and there I found that Flash has a problem with realplayer or vice versa and to fix all I needed to do was to go into realplayer's preferences and uncheck a box.. voile ... problem immediately eliminated ... all is well now... thank you for your time & help, though, guys!!!

Ah. I am not familiar with real player. Please tell us which box.

Open realplayer - go to drop down menu in realplayer symbol at top left & click on preferences -- click on "Download & Recording" at bottom of list on left - unchecked "Enable web download & recording for these installed browsers". Firefox was not listed in there but after I unchecked that box, it now works perfectly!!!
