Advanced appearance settings

When I right click (for instance) the sound icon in system tray it should say "Open volume mixer" and 3 other options below that. I was messing with the advanced windows appearance settings and now mine says "Open volume M" and there is no other space for the rest of the word. Same with "safely remove har" (for hardware) I have tried for days and can't get it to show the whole word. Do you know what setting this is? I know it's in advanced window appearance settings. Can't find it :o :confused:

It sounds like you've messed with the settings in the Windows settings and appearance Advanced properties (get to it by right clicking on the Desktop and selecting "Personalize"

Which setting it is, I have no idea. But some experimentation should reveal it to you.

I have been in there for 4 days....If anyone knows which one it is....let me know.

I have changed every one and back again...I'm wondering now if it was like this before and I just didn't notice. I can deal with it since Se7en is my main system.:D I would like to figure it out.

Hi Nate,

It sounds like you may have change the bold or size of the font for the Menu item in the Advanced Appearance settings.

Thanks for the reply Brink. You are right. It does do the trick but I cannot use bold. I need to deal with it or go without bold for the rest of my menus. Thanks for helping. I didn't think it would be the bold setting. I love menus in bold. I think I will just deal with the one downside to have other menus in bold. Thanks again for your help.

You should still be able to use bold if you like, but you will need to reduce the font size to accommodate the text in the menu completely. :)

I got it to fit but the rest of the menus were tiny. haha Ah well....I know I could get into the registry but I won't got that far. Thanks again for your help. You're the man.

You could also try different fonts to see if one may look and work better than the other for the Menu. ;)

---while we are on this subject of 'different-fonts' can I use a different color+font in different sub-parts of the pc?---(the advanced settings lets me use ONE-color for each sub-category that THEY list only)---it would be nice if one could have diff. color for each word/title like in menu, or taskbar instead of ALL the words be the same in a row (green/etc)---maybe I just ask for too much, but then 'never-say-never----/maybe 10yrs. from now/---

Sorry Kikidee, not by defualt in Vista. You can only change them per listed item for everything in Vista. You could use a 3rd party program like "WindowBlinds" to do a lot of customizing of Vista though.
