Here is my problem, well my roomates problem, some how he has friended or installed a bunch of adware think thats what you call it, an example-every time he loggs on to his facebook account with the laptop, there a ads everyware and not the normal 1s that come along with fb, then he can logg on with his desk top and the abnormal ads are no longer there, im kinda at a loss when it comes to how to remove this problem, all i knew to do was scan with malewarebyts, and then mmse, any help on this would be great, ty

Hello

Have your friend uninstall all of the adware as it can and seems to be causing him troubles.

After your friends uninstalls all of it then do a full updated virus scan and have him download malwarebytes and do the same.

I would then do a full defrag, and maybe a sfc /scannow to see if it will fix some of the problems...

Hello

Go to start...
Control Panel...
Uninstall programs...
Go through the list of software and uninstall the ones that are not suppose to be there.

Look at yours and that will kinda give you some ideas.

Ya if you can see things in that list that have "toolbar" in their name (E.G. "Ask Toolbar"), you probably don't want those. They might not be causing your ad problems (although they could be, especially if it's not from a well-known search engine like google, yahoo, bing, etc.) but if you don't use that toolbar a lot then uninstalling it will at the very least speed up loading your browser. But you should be able to pretty easily identify the program(s) that you want to get rid of. If it's conspicuous to actually be in your Add/Remove Programs, then it probably won't be trying to hide behind a fake name.

Although I am very surprised that Malwarebytes didn't take care of it already when you ran your scan... You ran a full scan right?

yes i ran a full scan with maleware, then i ran with msse, then superspyware, super spy ware removed over 100 threats, i kinda thought that took care of the problem but it didnt

I think I would get rid of the u torrent, update Java..

I would install the following:


Winpatrol
Soluto
Secunia PSI

These 3 programs will help you out a ton, and you can ask just about anyone and I think they would say the same. The work fantastic...

I don't see anything in the screenshot that would do this, what is on the desktop send me a screenshot. When your friend logs into facebook is that when there are all kinds of ad's...

I know you said you ran malwarebytes in post # 1 but I highly recommend if you have not done so you should download the free version a run a full scan to see what it picks up as it can find things that others don't.

well likw i said i did run it fully as im sure you seen in my screenshot it is a very valued tool i use often.
but i have fixed the issue, and to help you help others in the future and mark the thred solved, it turned out my browser was the problem, i opened with a diffrnt browser and the problem wasnt there, so i unistalled the dirty browser, ran ccleaner, and reinstalled my browser, all is well now ty for your time

That was my next question what broswer do you use, and then I think with that we would have got it fixed.

Let's just check its all gone Can you do the following for me please?

OTL

Download OTL to your desktop.
Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed to let it run uninterrupted.
When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
Under the Standard Registry box change it to All.
Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply.


Once OTL has completed its first scan it will save notepad copies of the scans in the folder that OTL was started from. Unless set to produce an Extras log it will only produce OTL.txt in subsequent scans.

A copy of an OTL fix log is saved in a text file at

:\_OTL\MovedFiles
in most cases this will be C:\_OTL\MovedFiles

I no longer need an OTL log beacuse I am now unable to help with malware removal due to my malware removal degree having started a few days ago.

I would get Jacee/Corrine to give you the all clear just to make sure
