All network connections gone

Hi, I recently tried to set up a connection to my linksys wireless router, model WRK54G. I struggled my way through manually and thought I had finally got it. However, my laptop can't detect any network connections, not my linksys one or any of the neighbours ones which usually show up.

When i turned my laptop on this morning though it showed all the network connections and automatically connected to the linksys wireless, that lasted for about 10 minutes before it disappeared completely along with the rest of the network connections.
I'm currently connected to the internet with an ethernet cable to the linksys router and it's working fine.

-Ive checked my network adapter (realtek) and it appears to working fine and it says it doesn't need to be upgraded

-All updates are installed on my vista laptop

-I have my wireless on 6-2.442 Ghz as is suggested by linksys

-SSID is definitely broadcasting from the router

-I am able to pick up up the linksys router on my iphone so im sure that it is broadcasting a signal

-I am less then 5 feet away from the router with nothing in the way

I don't know whats going on?!
I don't know why I got it for like 10 minutes after just turning on and then it couldnt find any connections at all without me changing anything

Very confused, any help appreciated or just a point in the right direction thanks in advance!

If that doesn't work, please follow the directions in: http://www.vistax64.com/network-sharing/284688-network-posting-tips.html and either the information you post may help us identify the problem or the procedures you follow may resolve the problem.

I hope this helps. If not, try setting up an entirely new connection after having read the above articles and see if the new connection works any better. If so, just delete the first one and you should be good to go.
