I am running vista 32 bit on a 531 Inspiron that shipped with home basic operating system. After a few years I purchased the windows anytime upgrade pack to go to home premium. Ran that for approx 2 years with no prolems until a nasty bug got me and had to reformat hard drive, it has been about 8 months since format and decided to reinstal upgrade to premium. Big problem at this point here, when i run upgrade cd. it tells me......quote..
Theupgrade cannot be started... to upgade cancel the installation and then choose to upgrade to a version of windows more rescent than the version you are currently running"
I restart and restart the installation cd and see nowhere to choose a version, dont know if it is thinking i want another basic or if it thinks i already have premium installed.. maybe a reg key..dont know. dxdiag and control panel both recognize home basic as operating system.
Any help on this problem is greatly appreciated and I thank you for your time and consideration.
