The error is caused by your Office Suite and registry problems. The best way to cure is to use system restore from a period a few days before the problem
If that does not work, download ccleaner and untick all registry items. Analyse all registry problems and tick the ones that have to do with MS office suite, then run ccleaner.
If that does not work, you can unistall Office Suite and replace with the free open office.
Before making any changes create a system restor point so you can go back.
thank you for the reply.

I have tried system restore and ccleaner. But still the problem exists.
I can't use openoffice because this is a MS Access based software named SWDES.
and when I try to export data from this software the above mentioned error occurs.

Are you using Office version 8 (97)? That is old. If so I suggest that you check compatibility with that other program. Also only office 2003 and higher is compatible with Vista which may be part of your problem. Has it ever worked?

I am using ms office 2007.But the software mentioned here was made with ms access 97. Is this a compatability problem? The database which I created at first was able to export but the recent ones are not able to. While trying to export I am getting the above mentioned error.

I don't know anything about the program you are using but I don't think that you should downgrade to Office 97 because it is too old and probably wouldn't even work on Vista. If it is that old that might be why it isn't working. Is there no alternative to that program or an update? Have you ever gotten it to work on Vista?
