AVG secure search

Have just done a factory default on a Compaq CQ 61 running Vista basic with SP2.
Now I have downloaded most of the updates and all of a sudden I find opening IE I get an AVG search window.

Is there any way of getting rid of this wretched app as I don't like it and never to my knowledge asked for it to be installed. I cannot find it in any of the programs either - in Start list, REVO, or Window Cont Pan.

Any help greatly appreciated as it has taken me all day to get this messed up machine into some working order.

You know you have a way with words my friend you are so right - just a band of brothers and sisters with a singular goal in mind and that is to help one another.

I have never been on more pleasant forums than Vista, 7, and 8 such a really nice group of folks.

I don't say that lightly or flippantly or mean it in a condescending manner I say what I think and in keeping with my honour as an Englishman. A fact that is sadly lost on many.
