Hi TonyA,

Welcome to the forums.

Which addresses are you looking for? Are you using Windows Mail? If you mean the auto-fill email addresses, they are kept in the registry. This tutorial will show you which key. You should be able to export the key to a safe place and merge it back after the reinstall.

The old address book is replaced by the 'Contacts' folder.

Emails are saved here: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folder.

Hope this helps.

Gary

Hello Tony.

The "HP Recovery Center" gives you the option to send to back up anything you don't want to lose. It is the first option offered, you will need to have backup media available before you begin.

Keep us informed!

Thank you Bare Foot Kid....I went on a chat with a HP tech and he said that the back up and restore program on Vista will back-up the address book to another drive. But, he said it will not capture the e-mails. What he told me was too good to be true. He said the program will also back-up favorite places, calendar, and the Windows Media Player library.
I have been seeing chats that the WMP back-up is laden with disappointment. We will see. I will check out your sites as well. On backing up e-mail the HP tech gave me this site:
