I Just thought I would mention, that it might help the people trying to solve threads, if the people who started them didn't give the Thread a useless name , like "help" or "please help" etc. Instead just state the problem. "windows error 123456" or "Desktop icons not showing up" etc.:D:D:D:D

Unfortunately, those who outline exactly what the problem is tend to be easily ignored since you can quickly glance at the title/body and go "Nope. I have no idea. Next".

Whereas those who offer little to no info whatsover initialy, spark peoples curiosity which then leads to info extraction bit-by-bit which usually ends up with a more personalized response with a higher chance for a successful resolution. :rolleyes:

Well fact is a somewhat informative title would be nice just to not make forum appear messy. Does not look great with Help!!!! :) But title is only a visual thing really. If forum really had scientific info as top priority I think it should give some advice on how to provide that. Posting system specs is a start but not much more. Theory but many questions asked would receive better answers if "system reports" like from SIW, WinAudit, Hijacklog, RSIT were available. Hardware stuff then may be PC Wizzard. Or more MS like, "Problems Reports and Solutions", Event Viewer reports, System Information, Mini Dumps and output from other relevant gadgets that could be important, like Windows Memory Diagnostic.

Never going to happen, just saying. Forums are by definition a mess :cool: Why for example Tutorials section is very very nice. Beats 250 "stickies" easy.

In a better world all that info from own and other tools would be available. Not going to happen. Majority will not be bothered and post what they feel like anyway. You can try encouraging people but few will follow advice unless they feel it will help their specific problem. People skip and jump over problems/annoyances on the interwebs. Blaim game boxes, tv remote, phones, Facebook, MS - wont help.

It is fortunate that those who might be able to help with whatever often get turned on by "exploring".

I've had mine downloaded and sitting on the Desktop since early October, just after I joined the Forum, and I often suggest to 'Newbies' that they do the same....it's a very quick way to gather a lot of Systems Info together, very quickly.

I'm still stoked that I beat you two :geek: though!! Chuckle! chuckle! snigger! snigger! snigger! Gaarfaw!! Gaarfaw!!......choke:shock:.

I've had mine downloaded and sitting on the Desktop since early October, just after I joined the Forum, and I often suggest to 'Newbies' that they do the same....it's a very quick way to gather a lot of Systems Info together, very quickly.

I'm still stoked that I beat you two :geek: though!! Chuckle! chuckle! snigger! snigger! snigger! Gaarfaw!! Gaarfaw!!......choke:shock:.

as for 7 it wont work right off but needs to be run in compat mode with vista...
