I'm trying to fix this nagging issue on a friend's Dell Inspiron 1525, but so far none of the posted solutions online have helped me. Basically this message appears saying the BCMlogon.dll has failed to load every time you logon to the machine. Once you get it in Windows (Vista 32bit btw) it works fine, just trying to get rid of this dialog box at login.
Tried this:
BCMLogon.dll Issue with Logon Screen – A recently installed program has disabled the Welcome screen and Fast User Switching | Stuck in Iowa
and this:
BCMLogon.dll Problem Resolved - Japan it UP!
*and read all of the comments with other solutions posted. There is no registry key called GinaDLL anywhere. Also, there is basically no options on the dell wireless configuration utility for this Inspiron 1525. So when they say 'go to wireless networks', that option isn't even on the version of the utility I'm using and I even updated to the latest.
I've tried uninstalling the dell configuration utility. All that did is uninstall the utility and the broadcom driver making it unusable. Had to reinstall the utility to get it to work.
Any other suggestions before I pull my hair out?
Also, I should mention that while working on her laptop I tried to update it to SP2 and it got stuck in the SP2 failed intall, restoring settings loop. Wasn't impressed with that either, but I knew how to get out of that one.
Thanks.
