Best USB Flash Drive

Just wondering which flash drives are recommended by forum members. I'm shopping for a flash drive and I'm considering the Sandisk Cruzer 8GB. I'll just be using it to back up my photos and files, etc. Right now I'm using the 4.7 GB DVD+R discs which will hold all my stuff with room left over. I just figured the flash drive would be faster and possibly be more durable and reliable. Also is the Readyboost feature recommended? Thanks.

    Not sure what case or cooling means. Could not find in any documentation. The keyboard is the standard that comes with the HP Slimline.
If you are going to use to drive for storeage you can not use
it for readyboost.
Readyboost needs the whole drive.
As for the brand you choose. They are all good.

I would watch and wait. USB 3.0 already has devices coming out. Anything USB 2.0 is bound to be heavily discounted very soon.

Afa the drives themselves they are good or bad depending who you talk to. If they have a good experience they are good, if they have a bad experience they suck. Me, I favor them with no moving parts. I've had good luck with the A-Data rubberized ones. They don't have a fastest write speed but they seem solid.

Readyboost I'm not sure what the recommended amount of ram is. You should prolly google but I've heard if you have more than 2 GB ram it's not really doing anything for you. People who have actually benchmarked it may no better though.

Thanks for the info. BTW, I dig your username. I'm a jazz musician and a huge Miles fan. In fact "Miles Ahead" is one of my favorite Miles albums (as well as most all of the ones he did with Gil Evans).

Agree with MilesAhead. I started by using Sandisk and Sony brands, not for any particular reason, and have stayed with them.

As far as 'Ready-boost' is concerned - when I had just 1 GB of RAM, I did try and use a flash drive for that function, but without any real noticeable improvement in performance. Opinion; waste of time, and I then used the flash drive for a better purpose......photos backup.

Yeah the "Kind Of Blue" album is the best selling jazz album in history and probably the most influential. Every track is a gem. But how could you go wrong with such a lineup of talent?? (Bill Evans, Trane, Cannonball, Paul Chambers, Wynton Kelly and Miles!!) A few years ago my wife bought me the Complete Miles Davis and Gil Evans Columbia box set, with out takes etc. If you don't have it go for it!

Yup. The personnel in the Miles Davis groups and Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers incarnations.. I just looked for albums any of those guys were on. I just spider webbed out from there.
