How recently did this problem occur? A quick and easy solution may be to roll back driver changes by using System Restore (type that into your start menu and see if it runs).

My Computer

What specific error messages appear when programs fail to start?

You say System restore does not work. Have you tried running it in Safe Mode? (press F8 repeatedly, immediately after turning the power on to access Safe Mode)

My Computer

I tried in safe mode. It done it but didnt fix problems.. Im not getting an errors it just wont open.. you can click all day.. or right click and nothing.. how do i go back to the day vista was installed so it will be new..

My Computer

You don't have to think about going back to the day it was first installed just yet. That can be a lengthy and messy thing to restore your computer to working order from a clean reinstallation. Almost all problems can be fixed. We just need to determine the cause.

Please specify -
you can click all day.. or right click and nothing
Can you right-click, and does it bring up the context menu? If not, does the context menu work in Safe Mode much like System Restore does?

My Computer

go to start all programs/accessories/system tools/ system restore and then restore back to when you first got the computer.
But I dont think you should do that, reset the router, unplug and then replug all the cables from the router to your computer. try to ping the router press the windows button + "R" on your keyboard and type cmd and press enter. a black box will come up
type in: "cd\" without the inverted comma's and press enter then type in: ping 192.168.1.1 and tell us what happens

I'm helping you from on the road. Please answer the questions, as I am trying to determine the exact problem and cause.

I worked on a similar problem early last month. Windows, controls and programs would not open in normal mode. It ended up being infected with a rootkit, a type of virus. Have you submitted your case of a computer security site yet?

@alexdagr8est:
Pinging 192.168.1.1 will not by itself prove anything yet. Please try not to jump to conclusions. tbrown1986 has not stated he so much as owns a network setup that matches the one you assume he has.

My Computer

I cannot open control panel.. i can not open my antivirus system.. i can not connect to internet wireless or hardwire.. I can not do anyhting.. but boot up and change background and such.... Can not run pretty much anything in normal mode

My Computer

That's very true captain,
tbrown, its time to boot into safe mode.

Yeah, I'm going to lean toward virus activity on this one. Windows is not reporting anything is wrong - just things aren't opening.

Please place the computer in "Safe Mode with Networking." This version of safe mode will allow you to connect to your wireless network. While in this mode, unless you have something VERY wrong, you should be able to update your antivirus software and do a scan.

Which anti-virus are you using? If it finds anything, paste the findings here and await further instructions.

done that... lol it weill let me get online but wont let my antivirus open is there one i can use free from online??? Mine will not work.. works fine on other pcs though..
