BSODs are back

Have been getting BSODs on my mother's PC (occurred last year and I updated drivers and was ok for many months) and are hoping to get some help in resolving them for her.

The BSODs happen mostly when starting teh PC, and can take several attempts before successfully booing up without one.

I have attached the zipped files following the steps outlined in the BSOD poting instrustions.

Please let me know if any more info is needed.

Have you checked for newer updates for your driver? Perhaps the same fix might work again.

If not, do you have any active anti-viruses on that computer?

Try running

Yes, I have updated all the drivers that I can think of.

Microsoft Security Essentials is installed and hasnt found anything that it suggest removing.

That is a rather basic form of anti-virus, it doesn't hurt to try the download links I gave you.

Driver Verifier

I'd suggest that you firstbackup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer soyou can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so youcan restore the system using the Vista/Windows 7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....AllPrograms...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vistayou'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer"option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click"Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click"Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click"Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to useyour system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do thatrepeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier isstressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for atleast 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from yourinstallation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that youcreated.

I have turned on Driver Verifier.

After it crashes again, what are my next steps?

I am unsure how I will know which driver(s) are the issues. Will it generate a report? Or should I re-post my new minidump files here?

Verifier puts stress on all the drivers. The weak ones will fail and cause BSODs, just post all the BSOD reports for the next 36 hours. YOu can just give us the last report as it will show all the BSODs.

i have run Driver Verifier for the past two days and have posted a new zipped file with all the reports following the guidelines for posting.

The verifier did not point to any particular driver, but memory was mentioned. Take a memory test
Run for 8 passes.
Then take each stick and test in a good slot for 6 passes

I ran Memtest86+ as directed, however no errors were reported. What exactly did you see about memory in my uploaded files?

Any other thoughts on things to try?

Do step one of the clean boot (set up clean boot)
If the bsods stop. Report back
