Hi All,

I recently convinced the wife to ok a purchase of a Dell 530S with Vista 32bit Home Premium edition- no sooner than getting it out of the box it started BSoDing on a regular basis- 5 times yesterday, three times (so far) today. Only during web browsing, but we haven't used it for much except that.

Here is the most recent problem report:

Any ideas on what the problem is here?

I've only added on iTunes/quicktime, AVG. Let me know what other information I can provide to help solve this.

Help me go from Zero to Hero please! Thanks mucho in advance.

My Computer

Hi Greg and welcome to the Vista forums!

Maybe a driver system problem (ntfs.sys ?)
I suggest you to run a sfc /scannow: run a command prompt as administrator, type in: sfc /scannow
Press Enter

My Computer

"Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."

DOH!

Since this is so early in the computer's life, would it be easiest to just reinstall the whole works?

My Computer

OK, then open again a command prompt as administrator and type in:
findstr /C:"[SR] Cannot repair" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >sfcdetails.txt
(copy/paste)
A sfcdetails text file will be created in the system32 folder, attach it here.

Well, just tcmon and settings ini files.
Do you still have bsod?
If yes, deinstall the printer and deactivate the sidebar.
If no more bsod, have a look at the printer drivers first (try to find a more recent for your printer)
For the sidebar, it depends of the gadgets you installed.

Ok, done, will see what happens in the next 24 hours. Interestingly, the printer (Canon PIXMA MP780) was auto installed by the computer. I deleted the printer and tried to reinstall from CD upon which I got the message that there were "known compatibility issues" so I canceled the install.

Thanks again, will report back sir!
