Solved Cannot Defrag???

I Cannot defrag using Vista HP. The internal defrag program freezes the computer about 50% into the process. The same is true for all the various free programs such as Auslogics and Defraggler.The disk is about 10% fragmented.
I have used these programs several years.What could have changed??
