Cannot Download Files.

My husband has a Vista Sony laptop.

He cannot download any files. No pictures, nothing.

They go into the firefox downloader and once it completes he cannot open or access them.

They do not appear in my pictures or my documents or my music.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with his laptop?

Where are they going? What is happening to them?

If it a setting, the software, what is causing it?

Please can someone help me?

I don't know what his OS is. I know it is Vista though.

Welcome
Try using Internet Explorer.

If that does not work
Make a Full updated anti virus scan
Download and run a full scan wil malwarebytes.
If you cant download try on another computer and download to a finger.

If none of that works a clean boot probably will.

Thank you.

The internet explorer keeps crashing and does not work.

We downloaded the newest one and it it still does not work.

I think avg let something in and got itself infected or something.

I think it has been letting things in for a while.

Avg is a terrible anti virus.

My old computer got two trojan horses because avg failed.

We tried getting avast anti virus and it would not open once downloaded like the rest.

We re installed avg.

Fortunately we got malwarebytes through and we can scan with that.

The aborted scan last night found 22 items.

If we scan all of it with malwarebytes, will it remove it?

I dought it, it would need a anti virus maybe.

What is causing these problems? Is it a virus?

Is there anything we can do to get rid of it? Fix the problems?

I want to get avast anti virus on as soon as possible.

We will run a avg full scna and a malwarebytes scan.

Maybe that will find whatever is causing it. :S

Hi,
You obviously have a problem with virus etc., having found 22 last night.
I would at this point do very little to the computer & I will try & get our security expert to look at this problem.
Do you have a log of the findings, if so please post.
Thnak you.

Let the scan finish in Malwarebytes, a security expert will be along to assist further.

* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. Copy and Paste that log into your next reply.
