Cannot open MS Word Files

I cannot open MS Word files either from clicking on a Recent Items file or from search results files. Get this message
C:Users\User\No paved or tarred roads Agenda 21 Doreen Hannes.docx
Windos cannot find
'C:Users\User\No paved or tarred roads Agenda 21 Doreen Hannes.docx'
Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again.
OK



I can open MS Word and from File Open, I can open recently opened files.

Please help if you can.

There's a problem with this path- C:Users. It should be C:\Users.

Open the Word Options, Customize. Is the path for default file location correct?

Default File Location shows

C:\Users\User\Documents\

So yes, the path appears correct.

I made a mistake in my original question. The message I get shows C:\Users\User in both places, not wrong in one place as I mistakenly posted. But problem still exists. Get the message and cannot open the files. This just started about a week ago.

Try a system file check and see if you have any system errors
Go to Start Search Box and type CMD
While holding down CTRL and SHIFT press ENTER (opens as administrator)
(or right click and click run as administrator)
In the box that opens type
SFC /SCANNOW and press ENTER (note the gap before/)
If errors are found restart your computer and do the scan again.
Run it up to three times.

Did as instructed. Ran scan 3 times. Each time corrupt files found and fixed, but my problem still exists.

In the Word Options, go to Resources. Run "run Microsoft Office Diagnostics".

Did as instructed.
Diagnostic found 1 problem in SetUp Diagnostic area and fixed it.

I tried to open a Word doc from Recent Items and the document opened properly.

So you wonderful people solved my problem.
