Cannot read from disk

Hi All,

[FONT=&quot]I’m currently having issues with transferring from a USB HD. [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot] [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]I have 70GB of video files across 10 seasons/folders on my usb hd. I’m able to copy all but about 8 files. The files are 350MB each.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot] [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]They all have the same format in the naming structure “[1x18] Episode Name”. I’ve tried copying them using XP (I get a cyclic redundancy check error), Vista Business and Vista Ultimate. [/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]I’ve tried copying them to a NAS, another HD, and My internal HD. I’ve tried opening as going save as, but always get the “cannot read from disk”. I can play the files with no problems. [/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]I’ve also defrag’d the drive. I’ve tried copy/cut. I’m also able to cut within the USB HD but not copy. Can anyone suggest what to do next. I’m at a lost to what[/FONT]

I really need to get these files off the HD, does anyone have any suggestions.

or right click and "send to"(documents,cd/dvd drive) ..good luck

Run a chkdsk X: /f in elevated command prompt (where X is the drive letter of the disk). Note: there is a blank in front of the slash.

try to copy each file at a time, don't just drag and drop all of them at the same time.
also did you check for bad sector on your usb hd?
