You are not running as adminstrator
Go to search
type cmd
cmd will pop up
then right click run as adminstrator
then the box will appear type the sfc thingy

Computers in a shelter---that's some consolation then as the time must drag in that situation.

richc46 I think I have made progress today! I uninstalled Avira Anti-Virus then uninstalled the Ask toolbar that installed with it and I was able to access Windows Explorer without it closing down on me. I have downloaded Avast so fingers crossed it works better with everything.
