I deleted HideSCAVolume REG_DWORD 0x00000000 (0) in the registry and restsrted the computer and still have no volume icon, I do have a network icon and a clock.
I went back and did the following steps:
Went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
I right clicked on HideSCAVolume REG_DWORD 0x00000000 (0) and clicked delete then yes. I then restarted my computer, still no volume icon. Went back to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
HideSCAVolume REG_DWORD 0x00000000 (0) was gone. Am I doing something wrong?

OK. Try setting the values to 1 as though you want to hide the icon and then restart. Now delete the values as per the Tutorial. Sometimes, for unknown reasons, you need to toggle the values in order for your desired effect to stick.
