CD/DVD Drive Not Working

Hi, was hoping somebody may be able to help me.

I was running football manager 2008 last night and I quite the game, 15 minutes later my laptop overheated and turned off (it gets extremely hot regularly.)
Now the disc drive won't work.

It shows up in the Device Manager and it says it has no problems and its running fine.

I put any disc in and the lights come on, and you hear it working away, but nothing is shown on the My Computer Screen and nothing pops up.

I've no idea what is wrong with it, and have limited knowledge about this tbh.

Any questions I'll try my best to answer them, any screenshots and that just ask.

You can try the following ZIP file.
After downloading and unpacking,
click the CD-DVD fix.vbs file,
and restart your computer.

try going into device manager, uninstall the drive, reboot, let the computer re-detect the drive and install the "drivers". see if it works then
