CD/DVD rom not working Please help

When you tried the boot repair, did you go to the Bios and make the DVD/CD the first boot device ?, if not, do that, put the DVD/CD in the drive and reboot, then boot from the DVD/CD.

I did that and it did not even see the DVD in the drive. Now when i go to the bios it does not show the CD/DVD rom and I also lost it under my computer. It does not show up any were now. Any ideas? Thanks

Check all the power and data leads to the DVD/CD drive.
Remove the main power lead from the PSU and leave for ten minutes, plug the lead in and boot-up, and see if the drive shows up in my computer.

Do you have any emulation software running, Alcohol120, Nero, or some other piece of software for burning DVD/CD's ?.
The only other option i can think of is to try and repair the Vista file system using a flash drive.

The real worry is that it is not showing in the Bios, the above may be a work around that will get you out of trouble.

If sfc can not fix the files then you need to do a repair install using the vista disk.

Its catch 22 roy69, the file system is broke (no DVD/CD drive) and needs a repair install , but cant do a repair install because the file system is broke (no DVD/CD drive). :eek:
I'm hoping he's got a flash drive, or an external HDD to load a recovery disk onto and boot from that.
