Solved Certificate warning.

Hi Gang

Well I said I would be back and hear I am.

I have had this problem ever since I have been using Outlook 2010. When ever I start Outlook mail or send an e-mail I get this little box talking about a security certificate. And it give you a choice of yes or no accepting the certificate, and it don't seem like it makes any diff whitch one you click on, it goes away until the next time. I have viewed the cert. and tried several diff things there, but it still comes back.

I am wondering if this has anything to do with AT&T/Yahoo being my provider, cause I have Yahoo mail also but Outlook is my default mail provder. I want to call someone about this but undecided as to who is the bad guy.

I am attaching a picture of the little box.

Thanx....Gunny

I sort of left a few things out, the certificate is called Equifax secure certificate authority, and the dates are 1/19/207 to 1/19/2012.

Now should I be calling my Provider Yahoo/AT&T, or what.?

Thanx...Gunny

It has to do with the provider that handles the SMPT (out going)
Look at your settings, is the mail going out via your email provider or going out via ATT Or are they the same).
Go to the account settings of outlook and look at the SMPT settings. If you do not understand it or have questions just post back.

Hi Rich

I was reading something from what you posted before, and I made some changes and it seems to have fixed it.

Here is the way I had it set, and it worked ok except for the warning...pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com

This is what I changed it too....pop.att.yahoo.com
smtp.att.yahoo.com

And like I said it seems t be working ok and with out the warning.

Thanx....Gunny

Hi Rich

It was the first post, the one about "chron" he hit it right on the head. Its a wonder both ways worked ok as far as the sending and receiving. I had the #'s the same 995 and 465, and the other settings, that pop and smtp address is all I changed.

Much thanx, and you have a great New Year too. That was fast and easy, painless. Great forum, now I know why I come here. :-)

I appreciate your help.......Gunny

Mine comes with memories
I was on a trip to visit a special friend in SC
We visited the Atlanta GA zoo
That is a meerkat, I took it myself
She has other shots but I liked the one I took best.
A Meerkat was one of the stars in Lion King

Hi Rich

Thanx, not the one I really wanted but it will do for now. This is one great forum, I will have to say. I have never received such great and fast posts, as on here. As Arnold said, "I will be back". Not as the Gov, but probably in more movies.? :D

I am going to be updating one of my computers, so I expect it to go smooth, but I am sure there will be some little problems, so I am sure you have not seen the last of me. Even if I don't have any problems I will be looking in from time to time, some great solutions on here, I like to read them, you never know it all.

Thanx....Gunny

Hi Rich

Some very good pointers there, I have done most of them, and have for years.

One thing I do that people think I am nuts for doing is this, I clone my HD. I do this as a sort of a back up. I don't believe in those bloated anti virus programs, like Norton, etc. I have never run one of them, and I don't intend to. I am not saying they are not a good thing, but they are not for everyone.

I have a friend right now that is fighting a blue screen problem and he thinks Norton will take care of it, (which I doubt) and he has been fighting this for a long time. I told him my idea about the cloning, and he is slowly coming around to my kind of thinking. But I think he is going to buy Norton today as a matter of fact. This guy is no dummy either when it comes to computers, he fixes them for everyone.

There are drawbacks to which ever way you go, I know that. When I have a problem with my HD and it will not fix in a reasonable amount of time, I simply unplug that HD and plug in the clone and I am back in business. Then I format and clone the bad HD when I have the time.

Thanx....Gunny...Again I say this is one of the best forums there is, I have never received as fast posts as I have on here.

My Computer

Make a clone with new install
put it away

Every month update another clone which you made

Any problem that comes up you can either use the updated clone or use the original, if the updated one has a virus etc.

LOL Norton may be the cause of the BSOD
Use MSE as virus protection.

Hi Rich

Like I said this is not for everyone, it has its drawbacks just like any program or method you might use for this purpose. I have spent days, weeks, trying to get rid of a problem, virus, etc like probably many that are on this forum, waisted time I say. And there are many times I just bite the bullet and start all over again, being frustrated, and mad. This way I try for a little time to resolve the problem and hopefully learn from it, but I don't waist too much time doing this, when I see it is getting to me, I simply switch cables and I am back in business. That is why I like having 2 computers too.

Lets face it there are far too many people that are trying to give you bugs, then there are people that are trying to fight these same bugs. This is just my solution to combat waisting time, and frustration. And if you have a good program like Acronis, cloning is one of the simplest things you can ever learn to do.

Thanx...Gunny
