clean install help

well i have a laptop with win vista 32 bit already installed on one partition.i have totally three partitions.one with the OS,one with the recovery partition and one just for my files.all three are on the same hard drive.now i recently got win 7 64 bit and want to do a clean install.can i do it without losing all the data in the recovery and other partition???

Hello Prajulm,

You can do a custom install of Windows 7 on the partition that Vista is on instead. This will give you a clean install of Windows 7 with a copy of your entire Vista installation and files in the C:\Windows.old folder in the new installation of Windows 7.

so if i install it in the vista partition,the other two partitions i made will not be affected??

Not since they are not a OS partition. Just be sure not to delete, select, or format them of course during the installation.

You should always create a backup of anything that you do not want to lose to be safe in case something should go wrong, but as long as you only select the Vista partition and no other to install to you should be fine.
