Clean install with a OEM computer

I have a dell PC. I have reinstalled vista 3 - 4 times before with no problems.
but recently i had a problem. the installation takes nearly 2-3 hrs to install which used to be 20 - 30 mins before. Is this something to do with the computer or the disc. please reply.

my specs are:
2GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2 GHz. with a 256 MB ATi X1800.

I would guess that it might be the DVD or HD.
