Close Word document without shutting down Word as well

Is there a way to close a Word document in Word 2007 without going to the dropdown menu? What happened to the little 'x' in the upper right hand corner that all other Windows programs still have? I have the minimize, maximize, and large 'X', but if I am only working on 1 Word document and click the large X, the file AND Word both shutdown. Is there any way to get the little 'x' back?

Go in word options/personalize and add the command "close"
The icon to close the current document will appear on the upper left tool bar.

It's Customize, not Personalize.

But that is indeed the handiest way of doing it, I have it myself.

Wait, wait, there is a way to get that X, my mistake.

Go to Word Options -> Advanced -> under Display uncheck 'Show all windows in the Taskbar'.

You would have two x marks to close the window one would be to close the Word Applicaion and other to close the document you are working on you may use it to close the document alone instead of the application on the whole. The simple method would be to use the combination Alt+F and press c

Ok, now I just realized another problem resulted from making this change. When I now attempt to alt-tab to another open Word Doc, only the resident Word document shows up on the alt-tab list, i.e. the other open docs aren't available. I have to go to View>Switch Windows to get to the other Word docs. Can this be fixed?

My Computer

In the far left hand corner, click on the yellow "Office Button". On the bottom of the pull down list is "Close". This will close your document, but not shut down "Word".
On the lower right of the pull down list is "Close Word"

cangst, easiest way is to add the "Switch Windows" to the quick access bar. Just right click on the "Switch Windows" icon, then click on "Add to quick access tool bar. The icon is now on the quick access tool bar. Just click on that icon, and click on the document you want.
