Command line

I wish to have downloads from the Web transferred directly to a file I have on my desktop. Presently it goes to program files/x86/program name. I wish it to go to my desktop and into "My Downloads". if possible. Can anyone help me accomplish this task? I need the command line. Thank you. :D

Hi Alvin,

First, if you aren't prompted for where to download files, see the following article to make sure that happens: Not Prompted to Specify Download Folder for File.

Second, if you are prompted but don't like where it selects and want it to be a different location (like the folder on your desktop), check out the following article: How to change the default download directory for Internet Explorer | Windows Reference.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry I do not have a folder option under view window mentioned in the article you referred me to.

Hi Alvin,

I'm not sure why you don't have that option - but since you don't, we'll try another way (a bit more complicated but it should work).

Here's another article that should accomplish the objective of giving you the option (then use the second link above to choose the location). Reset the Always ask before opening this type of file setting in Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Windows Mail - The Winhelponline Blog. The real solution is near the end where it talks about how to do it for all file types at the same time.
