Solved Computer powers up but nothing on screen

Hi I turned on my PC this morning and I lights on fans on hard drive light flashes for a few seconds ,but it doesn't seem to go through the boot process,the monitor is black. i cant get into the bios by clicking delete and i can not boot from the vista CD . pcu,gpu,psu.the psu is 2 weeks old .I have clicked restart but doesn't seem to do anything,so i hold the start button and it stops press start again and it starts but same thing nothing .any ideas please.

Check the Cables if they are loose.

Try booting without the GFX card.

Hey harihan ,i have let it sit for a while just turned it on again and got a series of coloured vertical lines on the monitor,i pluged the monitor into another pc and it works fine.ill try without the card conected thanks.

HMMM Hewston i have a problem if i take out my gpu i can not view my monitor .

Does your system have Onboard Graphics?

then connect the VGA/DVI plug to the Onboard port.

Also check for Faulty RAM modules since you mentioned garbled lines coming on your monitor.

Mostly it sounds like a RAM or GFX card Issue.

it seems if i leave it sit for a few hours then when i boot it up it goes right through the boot up process then the monitor goes black ,no i dont think it has onboard graphics port , i cant see anywere else to plug the monitor into.it should be at the back of the box were the usb ports are right.i ran mem test a week or 2 ago with no problems ill take out each one and try again ,thanks for helping.

Have you checked the system with a different monitor?

Does the computer have an internal speaker. If not buy one and connect it.
It may help with diagnosing the problem as the post should produce a beeping noise.

As to the garbled lines, this could mean anything. Faulty ram, gfx, cpu error, loose cables, bad vram.

Thanks heaps guys for all your help ,problem solved i swapped the mem sticks around and tryed to boot one at a time and one booted by itself and the other didnt ,thanks again Rob.
