Computer shuts off after 30 minutes

You ideally want to run it over night.

If you have that emblem, you should have no restrctions. You are fully activated
Go to search and type event viewer. Go to adminstrative Left column and then look for errors at the time of the shut down.

Have you looked at what Rich said?
The event viewer can solve a lot of problems.
Also look at the performance monitor.

I had taken a look at the event viewer a while ago. It was some generic message from what I remember, and I'll post the details of it later this afternoon. This has turned out to be a doozey of a problem!

Thanks again everyone for the help thus far

My Computer

I've taken a deeper look at the events log, and though I'm not exactly sure what to look for nothing looks too out of the ordinary. I broke down my sql queries into pre-shutdown, and post shutdown events of all sorts.

Leading up to the shutdown there is a lot of activity from the task scheduler and the task engine which result in the final result of the task engine being properly shut down. This took place 9 minutes before the shutdown time, and there are no events logged through the 9 minutes from the task engine shutdown to the system shutdown.

The only error present is
"The previous system shutdown at 6:00:33 PM on 7/29/2012 was unexpected."

--------------
Some other stuff I don't know what it means...

WHEA successfully initialized.
4 error sources are active
Error record format version is 10.

The EventSystem sub system is suppressing duplicate event log entries for a duration of 86400 seconds. The suppression timeout can be controlled by a REG_DWORD value named SuppressDuplicateDuration under the following registry key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\EventSystem\EventLog.

Are there some sources of my event log that I should post in more detail for analysis?

Digging into the Performance Monitor: Reliability Monitor

All failures fall into the Misc Category with "Disruptive Shutdown" as the failure type. Detail: Teh comptuer was not shut down properly."
No Hardware or Windows failures are listed
It shows this disruptive shutdown was happening pre service pack 2 as well.
My reliability Index has been dropping steadily over time =) it now sits at 5.98/10

I just found this, is it the root problem or is it related to my recent install of Spybot Search & Destroy, and Ad-Aware?

Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.

Look in Task Manager\Applications. Is anything running?

If it crashed during memtest I suspect hardware (probably memory) because that totally bypasses the OS. One the other hand you should be getting blue screens; is that what you mean by a crash? To be sure why don't you download and run a linux live distribution such as knoppix or ubuntu. Also try running memtest on 1 memory stick at a time to rule out the possibility of incompatibility.

The next time you boot, press del to get into the bios.
Leave the computer running in the bios screen.
If the computer shuts down after 30 min then it is a hardware problem.

If a machine can't survive being in BIOS indefinitely, then there has to be a hardware problem - it's the lowest stress environment possible.
