Solved Constant Beeping!

Less than a month ago, I have begun experiencing constant beeping while my notebook is running normally - while online, working on a word document or listening to music.

It's two (2) beeps, kind of sounds like dee-doot. It begins after the notebook has been in use for about an hour or so, and then continues until I shutdown. Starting out, it will beep every half-hour or so, and as time goes by it will beep a few times every minute or so.

No error messages pop-up on the screen. No warning or information telling me what is or could be wrong. Just a constant, annoying beep.

Gateway Technical Support told me to restore my entire system to default, but I am unable to do that due to the fact that I installed a new hard drive last year.

The notebook works just fine, at least I haven't noticed anything going haywire. I hope I can count on some assistance with this problematic issue.

Computer POST and beep codes

I wonder if its a hesat warning. Its not a beep code associated with a POST.

Get something like hwmonitor froim CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting and check your temps.

2 things that can cause this,

USB devices not working properley (there are also built in USB devices such as web cams in the screen)
There is a function in accessability centre that tells you when the CAPS lock or NUM lock key are pressed by emmiting a sound.

I would look to see if there are any problem USB devices.

Hello,

it sounds like CPU overheating to me then. Try leaving the computer off for a while so it cools down and have a fan facing it when ready to turn it on. See if it loads into windows. If it does, then you need to replace the CPU fan since it might have gone bad.

How many beeps is it? Depending on the number of beeps, and how close they are, the problem could be determined.

if it is repeated long beeps (without pauses) then it is a memory error (bad or incompatible memory modules).

if it is continuous Hi-Lo Beeps then it is CPU Overheating.

You're never gonna believe this...

I got extremely frustrated and then a light-bulb appeared... I did a System Restore and the beeping finally went away!

I feel bad that I didn't think of this sooner, and I didn't mean to waste everyone's time. My apologies, guys.

Regardless, I thank each of you who responded and gave some pointers. Thank you!
