CPU RMA OC question

hello all, im gonna be sending a CPU back to AMD for RMA and before i do that, i just want to know if their warranty covers overclocking.

Only if it is a Black Edition. If not, then there's about a 65% chance they won't realize you over clocked it.

they dont cover any hardware if its been overclocked , they unlock the multiplier and charge more for it , but they still wont cover it if you overclock it

This limited warranty does not cover damages due to external causes, including improper use, problems with electrical power, accident, neglect, alteration, repair, improper installation, or improper testing.

the small print states they include overclocking as "improper use" no matter what edition it is

chances are they wont even check , but if they do they will know its been overclocked (assuming the damage was done due to the oc)

well idk. my problem is this:

-a lot of BSODs
-some black screens:
ntfs.sys 0xc0000221
winload.exe 0xc0000221
ntoskrnl.exe 0xc0000221
-superfetch has stopped working

i tried RMA-ing my memory to corsair 3 times and they all failed memtest. i began to suspect it was something else other then memory. i asked the guys at corsair and they said it might be the memory controller on the CPU. thats when i contacted the guys at AMD and set up a RMA. i forgot to ask them whether OCing my CPU will void warranty, but i think its better that i didnt ask. lol

ha ha no best not ask em that i have rma'd a dodgy cpu after overclocking it , they just sent me a new one , i assume they didnt check lol

(btw, just out of curiosity, how WOULD they check for overclocking evidence? i mean its not like theres a memory chip inside logging all its frequencies rite?.....)

no it is odd , but well known amongst the oc'ing community that if you do rma a chip damaged my an OC and they check it they ALWAYS know

maybe its magic , Its what they do , they build cpu's and know what damage is caused by what effect , im an electrician , i specialise in the rewind and repair of electric motors , if you bring me a burnt out/damaged motor i can tell you exactly whats caused it after a quick examination , i assume its the same with them , only more technical
