CPU Temp

How do I find out the temp of my CPU in my laptop? Also what is the good range to have the temperature at? Its a HP dv7 and it is very well vented and I have the fan set in the BIOS to be always on. I want to get a cooler now if I need to if my temps are too high.

there are several utilites that will give you cpu temps,including everest, core temp, and i8kfan. The safe range varies by computer so you will have to investige your model. My laptop runs hot because its always under load. It runs abt 150F, and the max for my model is 180.

I have a HP DV7 1245DX
I notice when I am not using the pad (when not at home normally), it can get hot(by fan noice). The only time it has shutdown on me, was when I was not using the pad. It seems to depend on the surface....conduct or not conduct heat? I just downloaded speed fan, and noticed my temps were high, so I used some canned air and the temps dropped by about 30*C. (currently in the mid 40's , previouly in mide 70's). I was traveling on vacation and it shut down 3 times... its over a year old now, and I dont think I used air on the laptop -- but I do regularly on the desktop.
