I need help. When ever I try to log onto Internet Explorer I am blocked By Data Execution Prevention (DEP). Some times I can get on with secound attempt, but generaly it takes 2-3 times before Explorer will launch. I tried the windows help but have run into a deadend with it. It shows that I can turn off DEP for certain progrmas if I add them to the list. Problem is I don't know where to get the exe file for Explorer to add to list. Thanks in advance for any and all help provided.

Hello Sytrker,

If you run IE No Add-ons, is it still blocked by DEP?

Hello xstrykerx, welcome to the forum.

Windows is blocking internet explorer due to a security issue, virus, or malware. This is a feature put in place to protect your computer. The best way to correct this problem would be to install, and run an antivirus and malware detection program, and install all available windows critical updates. you should update Internet Explorer as well.To clean your system go through these cleaning steps:

1. Run a full scan of your updated AntiVirus.
2. Run a full updated malwarebytes.....Download Free malwarebytes
3. To clean your Internet Explorer, take these steps:

a). open IE, click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window you will see these Options:

Click on General Tab (1st Tab on the left) and you will see a Button called [ Clear History ..] click on it to clear your History caches, then click on [Delete Files..] to delete Internet Files created over the time, click on [Delete Cookies...] to delete your cookies left by visiting websites.

= Then try to run IE without addons =

Click the Start button , click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

Click on Advanced Tab and scroll down under the browsing option and uncheck this box:
1.Browsing
2.Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) and click Apply then OK to close your IE Properties.

Thats all. post your result.

Thanks.
Arvin

K guys thanks, but still having the same problems. Fact is the problem seems to be getting worse. Took your advice and tried everything offered with aparently no solution to my problem. In anothe rpost i mentioned I have an update that seems to be stuck and wanting to DL every time I shut down. Went to history and this update has failed to load at least a dozen times. Tried to load it manualy and get a code 660 message. Could it be this causing all my problems. Please help as I am getting low on hair to pull out.
Thnaks, xSTRYKERx

If you can, with system restore, go back to the first time the update tried to install.
Once removed, set windows update to notify but do not install. Then when you get the update right click and set to hide. It will not try to install. Now reboot does your computer work properly?
If you cannot use System Restore (which my preferred method in this situation) this should rectify the update problem

How do I reset Windows Update components?

K guys I want to thank you for your help. I changed my settings to alert me of updates but not automaticly install. The update that was giving me problems I hid and everything seems fine now. I have had this computer for about three years without a format so it may be about due as I am sure I have a lot of useless trash floating around on my hard drive.
Thanks again,

Ty so very much for the rep and kind words; it does make us happy to know that we have helped. I have found, as suggested, that setting the update to manual and then hiding the problem does work most of the time.
