This will show you how set the Taskbar so you can see both the time and date instead of just the default time.
Note   Note
Yes, you could just hover your mouse pointer over the time, or click on the time, and the date will pop up. Except, maybe you would like to have the Date and Time to always show on the taskbar instead.

3. Move your mouse pointer on the line between the taskbar and your desktop until it turns into a double arrow. (See area boxed in red in screenshot below)

4. When it turns to a double arrow, hold your left mouse button down and drag the taskbar up one more level and then release your left mouse button.
NOTE: Sometimes, you may need to go up to a 3rd level depending on how you have your date format set to see it all.
5. Repeat steps 1 and 2, but click to check Lock the Taskbar back instead.
That's it,
Shawn

Somehow I added the date to my task bar. I do not want the date. I only want to see the time as the task bar is now triple in size. How do I reverse that? I tried following your post backwards and it does not work. Please help.

Hello Lorraine, and welcome to Vista Forums.

No worries. You just changed the hight level of the taskbar. You could do so by following the tutorial again, but this time drag the taskbar down to restore the taskbar back to only being one level high.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

I've been trying that and I can't make it smaller. How this happened is beyond me. I was in a program and when I closed it the task bar was on the right hand side instead of the bottom. I was able to drag it back to the bottom and the date was there. I tried to make the task bar smaller and it won't work! Please help!

I have tried but am unable to attach a screen shot. I took a picture of the computer screen with my iPhone and will attach that. this is too complicated!

I have attached the screen shot from my iPhone.

Lorraine,

Your image is to small to get a clear look at the issue, but from what I can see with it zoomed in and blurry, the taskbar appears to be higher than normal.

What happens when you unlock the taskbar, drag it's top border down until it's the normal one level again, then lock the taskbar?
