AFAIK you can't use an OEM key on a retail install.
You can install the Dell OEM disk on other computers - and then use these steps to remove the Dell branding:

From this link: Remove 'Dell Logo' from System Information - Microsoft Windows Vista Community Forums - Vistaheads
Found out you can also edit:
C:\Windows\System32\oobe\info\oobe.xml

And the registry keys:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\Winsat\WindowsExperienceIndexOEMInfo

note you may have to adjust the install script, vender oem installs can customize the install to Specific machines, drivers/av/restore sectors etc. if it hangs/blues out on you look in to that.
