Solved Desktop Icons

I have several desktop icons (shortcuts) that have the correct icon with the windows blank default icon on top of it (see picture).

I have deleted them and recreated them with the same result.

This problem is only effecting icons (shortcuts) that point to url's.

Firefox is my default browser.

Any ideas?

Correction, it's also happening to shortcuts that point to .exe files. The problem is also effecting icons in the explorer windows.

Hello Kenerly, Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like your shortcut associations for your programs were all changed . This could possibly be just on your User Profile. Do you have another user account on your computer so you could test to verify if all icons are displayed with image correctly?

There’s a couple of ways that you can do to try and fix this. First start with System Restore.

Hello Kenerly, and welcome to Vista Forums.

It appears that your shortcut overlay icon has lost it's association and is why it's displaying that wrong one over the program's icon. Using the program in OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to restore the default shortcut arrow should fix this for you.
