Difficulty with WiFi

Hi Vista forums,
I am having some serious trouble with the WiFi adapter on my computer. Specifically, that it cannot connect to the internet at all. This post is being written on an ethernet cable. Normally, I would go through troubleshooting, and conclude that the adapter needs replacing, but something weird is going on. In addition to Vista, I sometimes run an experimental OS called TAILS. Interestingly enough, in this OS, WiFi connectivity works just fine.

My question is, what could be the problem? I have checked that the adapter is enabled, reset it several times, and reinstalled the drivers. Outside of this, I have no idea what to do. Please help.

I think Tails is designed to not be found that could be part of the problem
