Dilemma - Upgrade To 7 Or Not?

Ex_Brit- excellent information. Maybe it will help Koukol. I was looking at the Logitech Marthon mouse and the thing I liked about it the most is that it says it will go 3 years on a set of batteries. My old Logitech wireless mouse goes throught a set of batteries every 1-2 months. Since I don't have any significant arthritis (I'm 70), I don't know what the special needs are.

I didn't believe that so I googled it and it doesn't look like that mouse would be good for arthritis. Logitech Marathon Mouse M705: Review

Thanks for the input, guys.
I found a good, cheap mouse today (Logitech mini mouse)
It will work on any surface so I can even rest my elbow on a pillow and use it on my stomach (I couch surf)

So...this updating...is updating from Vista to 7 free and recommended?

It was posted earlier in the thread, no 7 isn't free. I just happen to have a spare 7 key, that's all.

I don't know if this will apply in your case but I thought I'd mention it. I had Vista Home Premium SP1 64 bit preinstalled on my HP desktop. I made a backup image and tried a custom install with Windows 7 64. The system booted but there were enough things munged up like the Start Menu and other stuff that I didn't want to use it like that. I put the Vista image back on. On the other hand my 32 bit Vista machine custom installed to W7 and everything was fine.

I guess a long winded way of saying make a Vista backup first.
