Do I need both of these files?

Greetings,
Just installed Vista Home Premium x64 on my backup machine and all went well. The next day I installed Nero BackItUp Burn on the same machine and it said at the outset it needed to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable to continue so I clicked O.K. and the program went in and worked just fine. No problems with Vista so I went on to install the 51 updates, SP1 and SP2 and all was still fine.
Went into Control Panel to Programs and Features to view the list and found two instances of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable one on the day Vista was installed, and one the next when Nero BackItUp was installed. My question is do I need both of these files as they appear to be the same?
I checked my primary machine same OS and it only has one instance of this file.
Thanks,
Jakeman

If you are certain that they are the same both are not needed. I think what happened, it was installed the first time, then, in a worst case scenario, reinstalled, but in reality you have it only once. Whatever the situation, I suggest that you leave it alone, if everything is working properly. Good luck.

Thank you Richard. As I stated the system is operating just fine...perhaps I'll just keep the 'golden screw driver' out of it. Thanks for the advice.

If you look at my number of posts, you will see that I have answered quite a few questions. I would say at least 25% of the problems were caused by people not being happy with their idea of a perfect system. Small changes became big problems. I can tell you that without hesitation if it were my machine, I would leave it alone. Esepecially if everything were working properly. Good luck and enjoy a great OS.

I just found your rep points and comments about the restore point. Whenever, I make a change that can effect the OS, I always make a restore point. It has helped me more than once. Even if you are installing a program that can be uninstalled, you are better off with a restore point. Uninstalling is not always 100%, small registry changes remnants etc are left behind. Always make a restore point, install, use until satisatisfied, then either keep it or use SR to remove it. Thanks for the rep, buddy.
