Solved does this motherboard support pentuim 4 (downgrade)

I'm not finding anything with that motherboard model number. What is the model number of the Dell computer? I may have better luck with that instead.

Chilloh, that appears to be a BIOS version number. The Dell model number should be something like XPS 410, Dimension ###, Inspiron ###, etc..

I cannot find anything that is specific to these model numbers for a CPU.

Do you have any documention for you computer that may include more details on a specific computer model number?

Is there a model number on the front of the computer on a sticker or emblem?

What Brink is asking is what sort of Dell do you have and he can help track down the mobo info for you. I have a Dell Optiplex 745, is yours a Dimension, Inspiron...?

It helps a little, but I still cannot find anything specific to that motherboard or Dell model number.

I would contact Dell customer support to see what they may be able to tell you also.

This is all that I can find close to your Dell Dimension 9200 DXP 061. It's for the XPS 410 with a DXP061 BIOS version. I cannot confirm if this will work for yours or not. To be safe, I would send a email to Dell and see what they your model can support.

ur Motherboard chipset is 965 frm the CPU-z Pic.
The Intel Website says that P965 supports Pentium 4 (LGA 775) processors ! I guess you already have a Core 2 Duo ? Why do you wanna Downgrade ?

because I am planning to build a new pc I bought a new motherboard that can support 8GB and a new graphic card (gf 8600gts) but i am planning to keep both so I can give the older one to my younger brother.

btw. what do you think of this motherboard?

do you have tips for me once the cpu is outside the pc, like can I put it in a napkin or something?

Chilloh,

If you have a case or package from a new CPU, you can put it in that. If not, a good thick napkin would do. Just wrap it in the napkin and then bubble wrap and place in some kind of sturdy package to keep it safe. A proper CPU case would be prefered.

Do not take it out until you have either a proper CPU box or another motherboard to put it into, doing anything else is just asking for trouble.
